Knights of the Retro Table QUEST 04: Why Do We Play Scary Games?

knights of the retro table podcast retro games, why do we play scary games

Also with other games in the entrance and jousting sections of the podcast

Scared shitless, but keep on playing anyway! The Knights of the Retro Table podcast is a podcast mainly about retro games and the gaming industry in general. The knights each episode talk about what they’ve been playing or watching recently and they each talk about one specific game in their game collection. In this fourth English spoken quest Peter (Retrogamepapa), Michiel Kroder (HitP Studio, Video Wizards pod) and Max the Dutch Gamer talk about scary games, where they mainly try to answer one question: Why do we play scary games? The knights also talk about what games they found the most scary and why particular gameplay elements and parts work so well.

During the entrance and jousting the following games are talked about (not all of them scary games): A Plague Tale: Requiem, Persona 5 Royale, Robocop vs. Terminator on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis), Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Haunting Ground, Ikenie No Yoru, The Simpsons: Bart vs. The World and Demon’s Tilt.

Other media discussed: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and Peter trying out Twitch streaming.

Retrogamepapa’s Addendum: Scary topic is something we could have talked about for hours. At first I wanted to post this podcast in October (duh), because of Halloween and such, but alas it wasn’t possible in the end. Too busy, too little time. But hey, November is also pretty dark and there’s a lot of folks like me out there who like scary games all year long!
