Onwards, upwards and unfortunately also downwards
In this second part of the Konami special the Knights discuss Konami during the 90s up until now. Great highs, and eventually also great lows are talked about. Some of the pivotal Konami bangers like Metal Gear Solid are discussed in greater length, and there’s a LOT of title dropping. Konami made so many (great) games, it proved to be impossible to name them all.
Titles named in this quest: Too many to mention them all but all the Konami big IPs: Gradius, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Pro Evolution Soccer, Dance Dance Revolution, Goemon. Also other titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and how they also took over Hudson and their IPs (Bomberman amongst many).
Check out part 1 here.
Retrogamepapa’s Addendum: This is a tough one for me to listen back to, because I didn’t have ANY time to prepare before we started recording. There’s also incredibly much to discuss about Konami, because of their gigantic library and unexplainable behaviour. I do still hope this is an entertaining and also informative quest for all of you listeners. Recording this with Max and Michiel was as always a pleasure, but in hindsight I wished I had postponed the recording. There’s too much chaos and there’s no oversight, one can clearly hear. Perhaps this is ironically fitting somehow, for a Konami themed episode…
