Knights QUEST 24: Retro Game Documentary “Press Start for Nostalgia”

press start for nostalgia podcast episode about this retro game documentary

An interview with director Bruno Ramos

In this quest, Peter (Retrogamepapa) talks to the person behind the documentary “Press Start for Nostalgia”, Bruno Ramos. He talks about why he made it, what he learned and how he put it all together. The doc is about playing and collecting old games/retro games, but it goes deeper than that. Hence the title. The main part is in the Netherlands, but Bruno also visited Brazil, where he’s originally from.

The entrance is about a retro game convention both Peter and Bruno visited, and whilst the main focus is on Press Start for Nostalgia, there’s also a large discussion about game preservation. This is also a topic that comes up in the retro game documentary.

Bruno has been a guest before, a long time ago, in a quest about the future of the Zelda IP, which you can check here.

Retrogamepapa’s Addendum: Retrogamepapa himself is also featured in the documentary, so we can safely say he was the main inspiration. But in all seriousness, it’s very cool to be part of such a professionally, well made doc. It’s hard to make a proper documentary, and seeing that this is the first one Bruno made, I’d say it shows much potential for future projects he might undertake. Press Start for Nostalgia is here now, available to watch for free on youtube (click here).
